Atty. Penelope Germaine “Pen” D. Sernande is a tax, corporate, and litigation lawyer of Carpo Law & Associates. She was admitted to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in 2023.

Before joining the firm, Pen gained valuable legal experience as a paralegal at the Ledesma Gonzales Law Office.

In 2022, Pen started as a Tax Advisory Associate at Punongbayan & Araullo Grant Thornton and was eventually promoted to Tax Advisory Manager. She gained significant experience managing taxation and corporate concerns for diverse industries, including advertising, energy, financing, insurance, construction, business process outsourcing, and manning agencies operating in the Philippines.

Her extensive expertise encompasses representation of both domestic and multinational clients before the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Local Government Units. This representation specifically addresses matters concerning tax assessments, securing tax refunds, handling compromise cases, and facilitating the issuance of essential tax clearances. Furthermore, her practice involves guiding clients through applications for rulings and obtaining tax treaty relief with the BIR, as well as handling diverse corporate matters in coordination with the Securities and Exchange Commission. She also provides tax opinions, legal advice, and conducts trainings and seminars.

Pen was also an Associated Lawyer III at the Roque Law Firm, where she handled assessment and refund cases pending before the Court of Tax Appeals and the Supreme Court, in addition to providing corporate secretarial services.

She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the San Sebastian College – Recoletos, Manila – College of Law and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Management from the University of Santo Tomas.
