2018 Bar Exam Passers to Take Oath on June 13 at PICC

Successful examinees of the 2018 Philippine Bar Examinations will take their oath as new lawyers on June 13 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the Supreme Court (SC) announced on Tuesday, May 7. The signing in the Roll of Attorneys will start on June 14.

The SC Public Information Office announced that Bar passers should secure a clearance from the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC) on or before June 10, 2019, Monday. They are instructed to pay ₱6,050 (₱3,850 for oath fees and ₱2,200 for Integrated Bar of the Philippines [IBP] dues, including building fund) and bring three (3) valid identification cards: one for security and two for presentation to the OBC.

On Friday, Justice Mariano C. del Castillo, 2018 Bar Chairperson, reported that a total of 1,800 out of the 8,155 examinees passed the 2018 Bar Exams. The passers comprised 22.07% of the total number of examinees, slightly lower compared to 22.55% of passers in 2017.

Sean James B. Borja, a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University topped the 2018 Bar Exams with the highest overall rating of 89.31%.

The 2018 Bar Exams was the 117th held in the Philippines. It was conducted at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila last November and administered by the OBC, headed by Deputy Bar Confidant, lawyer Amor Entila.

SC stated that Bar passers only have until June 10 to secure their clearance from the OBC, the process of which started on Tuesday, May 7.
